Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 4, 2025
Overview
Triftt helps you track weekly budgets, see progress, and receive helpful SMS nudges. We take your privacy seriously and only collect the data needed to provide the service. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
Information We Collect
- Account information: your name, email address, and user ID from our authentication provider (Clerk).
- Phone number: the mobile number you verify to receive SMS updates; we store verification status and delivery metadata (e.g., sent/failed timestamps) from our SMS provider (Twilio). We do not sell phone numbers.
- Financial connections: when you connect accounts via Plaid, we receive institution and account metadata (e.g., name, type, last4 mask) and transaction data. We never receive or store your bank credentials; those are handled directly by Plaid.
- Transactions and budgets: transaction records (amount, date, merchant, category) and your configured weekly budgets for each category.
- Billing: subscription status and payment events via Stripe. Stripe processes your payment information; we do not store full card numbers or CVC.
- Logos and merchants: we may enrich merchants and institutions with publicly available logos. We may store publicly accessible logo URLs in our storage (e.g., Supabase). No sensitive personal data is included in logos.
- Technical data: device, browser, and app interaction logs needed to ensure reliability and security (e.g., error logs, performance metrics). Minimal cookies/localStorage are used for session and UX (e.g., onboarding step indicators).
How We Use Information
- Provide core features: budgets, progress calculations, dashboards, and SMS check-ins.
- Connect and sync financial data via Plaid and process webhooks for updates.
- Verify phone numbers and deliver service messages via Twilio.
- Handle subscriptions, invoices, and receipts via Stripe.
- Improve reliability, security, and usability of the service.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
Data Sources and Processors
We work with trusted service providers (“processors”) to operate Triftt:
- Clerk (authentication and user management)
- Plaid (account linking and transaction retrieval)
- Stripe (payments and subscription billing)
- Twilio (SMS verification and messaging)
- Supabase (object storage for public logos)
Data Sharing
We do not sell personal information. We share data only with processors acting on our instructions, or when required by law, to protect rights and safety, or as part of a business transfer (e.g., merger, acquisition) with appropriate protections.
Security
We take appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data. Access tokens for financial data are stored encrypted; production access is restricted and audited. No method is 100% secure, but we continuously improve our safeguards.
Retention
We retain data while your account is active and as necessary to provide the service, meet legal obligations, or resolve disputes. You can request deletion of your account data; certain records (e.g., billing or security logs) may be retained as required by law.
Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your data, and to object or restrict certain processing. To exercise rights, contact us athello@triftt.com. We will verify your request and respond as required by applicable laws.
International Transfers
We operate in the United States. Data may be processed in the U.S. and other locations where our processors operate, with appropriate safeguards where required.
Children's Privacy
Triftt is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us to request deletion.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date and, when material changes occur, provide additional notice as appropriate. Your continued use of Triftt after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
